To address this urgent concern, this project introduces a smart vest with an advanced fall detection mechanism and an integrated airbag deployment system. The fall detection mechanism is based on a fall detection algorithm using accelerometer sensors. These sensors detect precise changes in direction and velocity and can pinpoint fall patterns. Upon detecting a fall event, the sensor activates a relay module, which subsequently triggers a solenoid valve. This valve controls the flow of air to DC air pumps, inflating swim tubes strategically placed around the chest and waist regions of the vest. This rapid response aims to cushion the impact of falls, significantly reducing the risk of serious injury. Parallel to the inflation process, caregivers are promptly notified of the fall event through a dedicated mobile application. The main goal is to detect falls promptly and deploy airbags within the vest to cushion the impact and minimize the risk of serious injury. This project emphasizes user-centered design to ensure the comfort and inconspicuousness of vests worn daily by the elderly. Emphasizing user comfort, the system aims to proactively mitigate fall-related injuries among the elderly, revolutionizing elderly care by offering timely protection and enhancing independence and safety, ultimately improving their quality of life. Connecting this technology with health monitoring systems ensures immediate assistance post-fall. Further evolution includes integrating this system into various wearable devices, prioritizing user comfort and aesthetics for widespread adoption.
