Conventional energy-consuming devices used for the purpose of air circulation are gradually being replaced by louver designs due to the onset of global climate change. Louvers are preferred over air-conditioners and windows because of their ability to control the airflow and the amount of sunlight entering an enclosed region. Altering the design of louver configurations can attenuate the amount of sound entering a region. The present study is an acoustic analysis utilizing numerical methods, primarily focusing on the phenomenon of sound attenuation over louver window configurations with respect to varying the number of louvers. Understanding the sound attenuating effect of louvers plays a vital role in determining the most favorable location, in terms of sound perception, for setting up a workstation in a specific region. The number of louvers, arranged in parallel in the louver setup, is also varied by keeping domain size constant. For various louver arrangements, louver angles vary between 0° and 90° in steps of 30°. To study how many louvers affect sound attenuation, the number of louvers is changed from 4 to 12 in steps of 2. The iteration involving 4 louvers provides the highest sound attenuation in comparison with higher number of louvers, as there is more surface area for sound absorption.
