The Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction (SFDRR) is a testament to the transformative power of science and technology in disaster risk reduction through evidence-based decision-making. The Science and Technology Roadmap was designed to support the implementation of the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction 2015–2030. Several bodies globally focus on science-based decision-making, such as G-STAG (Global Science Technology Advisory Group), Regional STAG, and IRDR (Integrated Research on Disaster Risk). The DRR can draw lessons from the IPCC (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change) style science-policy interface, as exists in the climate change regime. There are many good practices at the national and local levels of science-based decision-making in some countries and with some NGOs (non-government organizations). Mass media can also play a significant role in science advocacy and enhancing preparedness before a disaster. This chapter offers insights into the GADRI´s commitment to leading science-based advocacy in collaboration with different stakeholders.

摘要
