The GADRI Committee on Data and Information Sharing convened a session of the Global Summit that brought together some of its component interest areas and the challenges there are in making data work better for the Disaster Risk Reduction sector. Underpinning dilemmas represented by relatively well-known FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interpretable, Reusable) principles, successes and challenges as experienced by a small sample of member case studies via their work with data in key areas of disaster research and the recent concerns of ongoing gaps highlighted by the Sendai Mid Term Review provided focus. Common themes were identified, and these contributed to identifying some intervening priorities for GADRI, conclusions from the discussions and a statement that formed part of a response to the Mid Term Review as further elaborated in this section of the proceedings.
