Employer Engagement in Higher Education Quality Assurance in Vietnam
摘要
Like other stakeholders in higher education, the voices and roles of employers in higher education are increasingly important. They can help universities equip students with employability skills through activities related to higher education governance, curriculum development, and internships. This chapter discusses how employers become key stakeholders in Vietnamese higher education and the importance of their involvement. To begin with, this paper reviews the literature investigating internal and external stakeholders in higher education. Second, the study analyzes the role of employers in training and quality assurance. The main parts of this chapter focus on synthesizing employer engagement in quality assurance and accreditation in tertiary education in Vietnam. Specifically, the chapter highlights regulations on employer engagement, employer surveys on training and graduates, and employer engagement in curriculum development, teaching, and accreditation. Finally, this paper identifies challenges related to employers’ involvement in Vietnamese higher education quality assurance.
