Student Engagement in Higher Education Quality Assurance in Vietnam
摘要
Students are key stakeholders in higher education, and their engagement in quality assurance activities is widely believed to be essential to enhancing educational quality. This chapter begins by briefly revisiting foundational concepts—the importance of student involvement, students’ roles and perspectives in quality assurance. Building on this, the chapter reviews various approaches and key theoretical models of student engagement in quality assurance across various educational contexts, providing a global backdrop for understanding current trends in student involvement in quality assurance. This review is used to analyze the Vietnamese higher education landscape, examining how national quality assurance policies affect the ways higher education institutions involve students in these activities. In response to identified gaps, the chapter proposes strategies to promote more meaningful student engagement in quality assurance in Vietnamese higher education, offering recommendations for a more comprehensive approach. Ultimately, it argues that the students are co-drivers and agents of change for continuous quality improvement; therefore, it is important to position them at the center of quality assurance processes and develop full partnerships with them in any quality assurance attempts.
