This chapter focuses on quality assurance in regional universities in Vietnam, including the University of Danang, Hue University and Thai Nguyen University. Through this chapter, readers will have an overview of the quality assurance systems within the regional universities, including the organizational structures of the quality assurance system, the quality assurance functions, tasks and responsibilities at different levels from the central university to the member universities, schools, institutions and faculties; how they are designed and implemented to contribute to the achievement of the central university vision and mission while respecting the characteristics of and contributing to the achievement of the missions and visions of the member universities. The quality assurance system within regional universities has shown its strengths; nevertheless, there are challenges as well, which can be stated as the lack of a database which synchronizes all data of different fields from its member universities and affiliates, the shortage of staff who have major or are well-trained in quality assurance and the autonomy of the member universities in defining their goals which may conflict with the common goals of the central university. Proposed solutions to these challenges are building a database for the management of the central university, developing policies to attract and retain qualified staff, policies to locate stable budgets for quality assurance activities and more supporting roles from the central university quality assurance unit to its members.
