This paper proposes a Automated Learning Outcome Extraction System (ALOES) that extracts learning outcomes from academic syllabi. Learning outcomes are statements that describe the knowledge, skills, and competencies that learners are expected to acquire upon completion of an educational course. In this work, natural language processing based automatic concept extraction along with a rule-based approach for the separation of prerequisite concepts from the learning document is used to extract the learning outcome. We achieved an accuracy of \(80\%\) using our proposed approach.
