There are some individuals who are paralyzed, have recently undergone surgery, or have unusual syndromes (like quadriplegia, locked-in, etc.) were unable to move their body or speak to convey their needs. The means of communication for these kinds of people will be difficult, which can affect their health if they try to take on too much stress. Therefore, it is necessary to have a system that can convey their basic needs to the caretaker. Some of the basic needs can be food, water, positioning, expressing pain, the need to meet their loved ones etc. To address this, an intuitive communication system proposed and developed in this paper which enables the patient to express their needs using simple eye gestures. The proposed communication system leverages the customized Morse code to match these gestures with an alphabet that is pre-defined for each need. This alphabet is further used for fetching the need present in the dataset and then generates an audio, image and sends an SMS to alert the nurse/caretaker.

摘要
