This paper investigates the typography of three distinct locales in the south of Delhi—Hauz Khas Village, IIT Delhi, and Katwariya Sarai—to understand how typographic design shapes these urban environments and their' visual and cultural identities. Hauz Khas Village is characterised by its eclectic and artistic typography, featuring hand-painted and decorative lettering that enhances its vibrant cultural scene filled with art galleries, boutiques, and cafes. In contrast, IIT Delhi employs clean, sans-serif fonts with neutral colours, reflecting the institution's focus on modernity, professionalism, and academic excellence. Katwariya Sarai, a bustling commercial hub, uses bold and colourful typography that captures the dynamic energy and vibrancy of crowded markets and diverse shops. The study reveals how typography is a powerful tool for communication, navigation, and expression by examining the eight diverse typographic styles and their applications in these areas. It highlights the role of design elements in contributing to each location's unique ambience and character, offering insights into the interplay between typography and urban cultural identities. This study underscores the importance of thoughtful typographic design in urban environments. By reflecting different locations' distinct activities, atmospheres, and cultural identities, typography creates meaningful and engaging urban experiences. As cities continue to evolve, the role of typography in shaping the visual and cultural landscape of urban spaces will remain a vital aspect of design and communication. The study underscores the need to consider typographic environments in related disciplines and their intersecting spaces.
