The role of soil microorganisms in sustaining agricultural productivity cannot be overstated. From nutrient cycling to promoting plant growth, these microscopic entities are indispensable for maintaining healthy soil. Yet, accurately detecting and analyzing them remains a challenge with traditional methods, which often require extensive time, labour intensive and may miss non-culturable species. To address these limitations, advances in nanotechnology have introduced nanosensors, which offer real-time, highly sensitive detection capabilities. Nanosensors not only solves the issue of plant disease management or prevention, it can also boost food security, soil health, inform about the amount of nutrients present in soil. It can certainly optimize the crop yield without harming the environment. Despite these benefits, the practical deployment of nanosensors in large-scale agricultural settings presents challenges that need to be addressed. The chapter will examine the various types of nanosensors used for soil microbe detection, their underlying mechanisms, and how they have revolutionized agricultural practices.

摘要
