This article provides an in-depth review of latency reduction techniques in wireless multimedia transmission, with a particular focus on real- time applications. It evaluates the effectiveness of edge computing, network slicing, and protocol optimization in minimizing delays, which are essential for enhancing user experiences in video conferencing and live streaming. By leveraging edge computing, processing tasks can be moved closer to the network edge, reducing latency and enabling faster response times for real-time multimedia applications. Network slicing allows for the allocation of dedicated resources and customized network configurations to meet the specific latency requirements of different applications. Additionally, protocol optimization techniques optimize data transmission protocols to minimize latency and ensure smooth and timely delivery of multimedia content. These techniques collectively contribute to enhancing user experiences in real-time applications, making video conferencing and live streaming more seamless and interactive.
