The class representation capacity in signal spaces spanned by arrays of metal oxide sensors (e-noses) is studied in this work. It is addressed in one of its simplest configurations, with a commercial MOX sensor running in two different temperature modulations, working as two different sensors. The class representation capacity of such an array is studied in the information theory framework. It is shown that, for steady-state measurements without drift, only a few tens of classes can be properly accommodated in the corresponding signal space, under moderate levels of noise.

摘要

The class representation capacity in signal spaces spanned by arrays of metal oxide sensors (e-noses) is studied in this work. It is addressed in one of its simplest configurations, with a commercial MOX sensor running in two different temperature modulations, working as two different sensors. The class representation capacity of such an array is studied in the information theory framework. It is shown that, for steady-state measurements without drift, only a few tens of classes can be properly accommodated in the corresponding signal space, under moderate levels of noise.
