Comparison of Roundness Using Least Squares Reference Circle at Different Undulations Per Revolution
摘要
Roundness of an object is crucial to determine for real world applications such as automobiles where many round objects are subjected to continuous motion. ISO 4291:1985 (ISO 4291:1985: Methods for the assessment of departure from roundness - Measurement of variations in radius) provides the method for evaluation of the deviation from the ideal roundness. This equals the difference of the maximum and the minimum radius of the measured profile of the object. We have assessed the out of roundness of a roundness artefact using a rotating spindle work table type instrument. The circle for assessing the out of roundness is the least square reference circle (LSCI) while using different undulations per revolution viz. 15 UPR, 50 UPR, 150 UPR and 500 UPR. A comparison of different UPRs is made and the effect of these UPRs on the roundness is summarised.
