This research paper adopts a two-pronged approach to examine signage and wayfinding at railway stations. The first part combines bibliometric and content analysis of existing research from the Scopus database, where it analyzes global trends, influential papers, and thematic clusters. In the second part, we have done observational study of Indian railway passengers, documenting passengers’ experiences with existing station signages. These observations are categorized using a five-factor human-centered method. By comparing keywords from field observations with those from global literature, we identify significant gaps between existing research and practical challenges in the Indian context. While much of the global literature does not directly address the unique aspects of Indian railways, this mismatch highlights crucial research opportunities. The study provides a foundation for future research that can tailor global insights to meet India’s unique needs, which could also help other developing countries dealing with similar challenges.

摘要
