Bhedaghat, located in Jabalpur is one of the most spectacular natural sites in India. Soft marble in this area has led to the growth of various industries for local employment. One such industry is the marble stone crushing industry. The workers involved in these industries are exposed to high levels of marble dust at work and are often unaware of the associated health risks. This study aims to conduct a comprehensive health risk assessment to identify potential hazards and quantify the risk associated with the task performed by the workers. A cross-sectional study was conducted on marble stone crushing workers in Gwari near Bhedaghat to investigate their exposure to marble dust. A modified respiratory questionnaire was developed to identify the respiratory issue. Modified Dutch Musculoskeletal Questionnaire (MDMQ) was used to identify different ergonomic risk factors among marble stone crushing workers. The study consisted of a sample size of 46 workers, among all the workers, 76% reported coughing, 59% reported wheezing, 89% reported nasal obstruction, 87% had nasal secretion, and none of them used a mask. Analysis using the Modified Dutch Musculoskeletal Questionnaire (MDMQ) identifies prolonged exposure to different ergonomic risk factors related to the lifting, dropping, and collecting. This study found that marble stone crushing workers had high risk of breathing, skin dermatitis issues, carrying heavy loads, stand for a prolonged time, and working in low air quality conditions. Prolonged exposure to such health hazards can lead to progressive health deterioration.
