In GPenSIM, by default, whenever a transition becomes enabled and the conditions in the pre-processor files are satisfied, the transition is allowed to consume the input tokens and start firing immediately. However, sometimes, we may want the input tokens in the input places visible for some time before the enabled transition consumes these tokens. In other words, we may want the tokens to be held (retained) in the input places for a while. This chapter introduces two techniques: (1) “Time Windows,” a function that can be used in the pre-processor. (2) “Delayed Enabled Transitions” is a new functionality that was introduced in version 11.
