Polyfuran (PF) and polythiophene (PT) was prepared by chemical oxidation. The method adopted consists of mixing equimolar amounts of Terphenyl and Furan. For this purpose, Terphenyl and furan were dissolved in a pre-prepared solution of FeCl3 or AlCl3 in CHCl3 according to the chosen oxidant. The prepared polymers and their blend were characterized by FT-IR spectroscopy, UV–visible absorption, Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) and X-ray diffraction. The goal of this work is to study a new copolymer which combines the furan properties and those Terphenyl.
