Employee Engagement in CSR: The Role of Green HRM in Building a Sustainable Culture
摘要
Today, information-level business strategy is significantly focusing on environmental and corporate social responsibility. In this context, one of the most efficient concepts of engaging in the mentioned principles is indeed green human resource management (GHRM). It involves appending elements to existing HR practices to foster the development of competent and environmentally friendly human capital. Using Green Human Resource Management is a potent way to promote these values (GHRM). This approach incorporates elements into HR practices to develop a staff that is highly skilled, productive, as well as environmentally conscious. GHRM plays a critical role in developing an atmosphere by giving workers an awareness of accountability for sustainability. It elaborates on a situation where every adult can speak about his sustainable goal at the workplace. As the time one joins the organization, professionals are immersed in an environmentally friendly environment. These are considered to be green employees and are the ones hired through green recruitment. This category is continually trained on methods of sustainability, including energy saving and wastage reduction, hence giving the prerogative to practice change within organizational premises and in their own lives. GHRM also provides incentives to workers, as the latter are motivated to participate in sustainability initiatives due to appreciation of their work. Organizational commitment towards sustainability enhances this culture whereby leaders mirror top-notch, greener practices and elaborate on environmental objectives. Conducting clear and open communication makes all people aware of the organization’s efforts towards sustainability and creates awareness of the common goal in place. Thus, GHRM turns sustainable development from the company’s policy into the individual responsibility of every worker. Since sustainability becomes a part of corporate culture and organizational behavior, GHRM significantly contributes to creating a sense of the company’s and employees’ responsibility towards the environment.
