This research paper investigates the relationship between environmental and social disclosures and corporate attributes among top-listed Indian companies. The study aims to determine the impact of market performance, profitability, foreign institutional investors’ (FIIs) stake, and leverage on the level of environmental and social disclosures. The findings indicate that higher profitability and market performance are positively associated with increased environmental and social disclosures, suggesting that more profitable firms are more inclined to engage in stakeholder-oriented practices. However, FIIs’ stake and leverage show a negative and insignificant relationship with these disclosures. The study underscores the importance of environmental and social disclosures for building stakeholder trust and managing risks related to environmental and social factors. The results have implications for investors, regulators, and policymakers, emphasizing the significance of non-financial disclosures in assessing a firm's long-term sustainability and performance. Further research opportunities are suggested, including exploring combined environmental and social disclosure scores and conducting panel data analyses.

摘要
