A systematic literature review identifies and groups elements and subfactors affecting artisans’ and their community's sustainable development. Governance, socio-cultural, technology, built environment, net zero development, economy, and city growth were recognized as seven important elements. The systematic literature review identified 28 subfactors under the seven primary variables. Following these literatures, it has been found that traditional and indigenous societies can contribute to sustainable development and net zero built environments. The study also provides policymakers and urban planners with an overview of the aspects that are crucial to the community's sustainable growth given its traditional arrangement. Therefore, this study can function as an initial step toward the sustainable advancement of artisans in urban areas by focusing on the most appropriate factor for the city.
