The Internet of Things is spreading very fast, bringing along with it a tremendous increase in connected devices. This eventually threatened the cyber-security1 of any person, organization, or country. Rapid developments in every sector transformed cyber attacks into a widespread threat requiring new ways and innovation in security. This paper explores the cyber threat landscape based on ransom ware2, phishing3, malware4, and denial of service attacks. In doing so, it makes it plain that the traditional security measures have been weak in preventing those new threats surfacing recently. We look for the importance of AI in making cyber-security defenses strengthened with sophisticated techniques in the form of intrusion detection systems, network security frameworks, and intelligent agents. We also discuss the machine learning approach and predictive modeling to predict and mitigate possible cyber threats. While cyber-security solutions based on AI hold a lot of promise, significant questions remain regarding data privacy, scalability, and human–machine collaboration. Our research emphasizes the aspect of integrating AI technologies into a cyber-security strategy and hence allows an organization to strengthen defenses to protect valuable assets in a highly digital world.
