A Comprehensive Guide to Fieldside Physiotherapy in Cricket
摘要
Fieldside physiotherapy involves not only immediate, on-site management but also requires a variety of preparatory tasks before the game and ends the day after the game. This chapter examines how physiotherapists approach player care in high-performance environments during Twenty20 (T20), Test, and One Day International (ODI) cricket, each with its unique challenges and demands. Various factors influence fieldside physiotherapy, including game format, player workload, and external considerations such as venue, weather, travel, cultural differences and cricket rules related to on- and off-field medical care during a match. The physiotherapist’s responsibilities throughout a cricket event, from pre-game preparation to post-match recovery, include managing player health, conducting on-field assessments, implementing injury prevention strategies, and supporting athletes’ physical and psychological well-being. Drawing from practical international experience, this chapter provides insights into the complex decision-making process required in sports physiotherapy.
