Since the 1990s, there has been a notable rise in civil wars. Additionally, the phenomenon of international terrorism, which transcends national boundaries, poses a significant challenge of pervasive violence within the global community, greatly affecting international relations. We will examine the similarities and differences between civil wars and terrorism in comparison to interstate conflicts. The applicability and constraints of the Fearon model previously discussed will be illustrated, highlighting how factors such as inequality, discontent, distrust, and trust also play a crucial role in this context.
