To get around the serious problems with oral medication distribution, the transdermal route is being adopted more and more in clinical settings. Using transdermal microneedle arrays to administer drugs topically has a lengthy history. It has been shown that microneedles are highly effective and multipurpose tools. Microneedle technology has been presented as a method to penetrate the outer layer of the skin, known as the stratum corneum, in a way that is less invasive. This allows molecules to travel through the skin by establishing temporary channels. The remarkable qualities of this technique including its relative safety, low cost, high medicinal efficiency, and painless penetration have stimulated the interest of both the industrial and scientific communities. Microneedles are incredibly useful in many biological applications because of their exceptional physicochemical and ionic characteristics, which allow them to transport extremely big molecules. This chapter discusses microneedle technology’s evolution and summarizes studies to date. Also it investigates the component materials and production processes that enhance the administration of crucial therapeutic substances via the skin.

摘要
