Application of Open Source Tools for Assessing Cybersecurity in Domestic Wi-Fi Networks
摘要
This work analyze the security of domestic Wi-Fi networks, focusing on vulnerabilities in WEP, WPA, WPA2, and WPA3 protocols. We used open-source tools like Linset, Aircrack, and Wireshark for evaluating different Wi-Fi network configurations through penetration testing according to the Penetration Testing Execution Standard (PTES). The tests were conducted in three geolocated areas in Santa Elena, Ecuador, and included Evil Twin, dictionary, deauthentication, and Man-in-the-Middle attacks. The results showed that the most secure protocol is WPA3, and the most significant risks correspond to errors in the implementation and configuration of Wi-Fi networks. Finally, recommendations are presented to improve cybersecurity, with emphasis on the need to apply secure router configurations and use monitoring tools to mitigate cyber threats.
