This chapter operates independently of the corpus study and focuses on formal generalizations derived from observations of Chinese complex sentences. After extending the formal descriptions of their basic syntax and semantics, it introduces three analytical tools for examining these constructions. Each formalization is accompanied by an evaluation of its strengths and weaknesses. Although the descriptions are exploratory rather than exhaustive, they provide a foundation for further theoretical inquiry.

摘要

This chapter operates independently of the corpus study and focuses on formal generalizations derived from observations of Chinese complex sentences. After extending the formal descriptions of their basic syntax and semantics, it introduces three analytical tools for examining these constructions. Each formalization is accompanied by an evaluation of its strengths and weaknesses. Although the descriptions are exploratory rather than exhaustive, they provide a foundation for further theoretical inquiry.
