As for the “conclusion” of this book, to put it simply, I have tried to demonstrate that the root cause of conflicts in rural society lies in the defects in a range of existing institutions and rules. There are tensions with respect to values, objectives, and interests inherent to these institutions, which shape the role of primary-level political authority, their rights and duties, and their social relationship with the rural population. The challenges facing rural politics can be attributed to these tensions.
