As one of the four capitals of the Yuan Dynasty, the Middle Capital was 15 km northwest of Zhangbei County in Hebei Province. From June to October 1999, archaeologists conducted a renewed excavation in Hebei Province. Over 30 building components were discovered, including the stylobate of the central palace, the doorway of the palace complex, and the heritage site of the watchtower mounded platform.
