What Signal Detection Means in a Small Database?: Case Reports from Cabo Verde
摘要
Signal detection activities are considered the cornerstone of pharmacovigilance and an indicator of the high level of maturity of a pharmacovigilance system. However, signal detection is often associated with “sophisticated approaches” and “large and well-developed databases,” which may represent a limitation for countries with small database or limited resource. In most of the African countries, establishing signal detection and risk management activities are widely recognized as a major challenge, and therefore, developing a tactical approach to ensuring patient safety is critical.
