Pharmacy and Poisons Board (PPB), Kenya’s National Medicines Regulatory Authority, safeguards public health by regulating pharmacy practice and ensuring access to safe and effective health products and technologies (HPTs). As part of its mandate, the PPB established a pharmacovigilance and post-marketing surveillance system to monitor the safety and quality of HPTs in Kenya. In 2014, the Africa Union Development Agency-New Partnership for Africa’s Development (AUDA-NEPAD) then NEPAD, designated ten Regional Centres of Regulatory Excellence (RCOREs) under the African Medicines Regulatory Harmonization (AMRH) initiative to strengthen medicine regulatory capacity in Africa. The PPB was appointed as one of two RCOREs in Pharmacovigilance, reinforcing its role in advancing regulatory standards and capacity-building efforts in Kenya and beyond.
