It has been proved that the plant fiber paper invented in China was the best writing material in ancient times, and printing with paper as the writing medium was the most advanced replication technology that replaced hand-copying. Therefore, when Chinese paper and printed materials spread to other countries, they were imitated, resulting in the external dissemination of papermaking and printing technology. Generally speaking, it is logical that the outbound spread of papermaking preceded that of printing, because paper had to be available before printing could be developed. So, when discussing the spread of printing, it is necessary to mention the spread of papermaking as well. China is located in the eastern part of Asia, and so, it’s quite natural that the art of papermaking and printing first spread to the neighboring Korean Peninsula and Japan.
