This paper presents a comprehensive analysis of Vietnam’s pioneering national sector planning for transportation infrastructure, focusing on port development. The study highlights the strategic integration of Building Information Modeling (BIM) and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) technology to support the ambitious expansion of the Hai Phong port cluster. With projected cargo throughput doubling and vessel traffic increasing by 150% by 2030, Hai Phong port faces significant challenges in accommodating future growth. The paper demonstrates how BIM-GIS technology can provide a dynamic and integrated planning framework. By capturing and analyzing diverse data, including bathymetric, hydrological, and navigational information, the model offers invaluable insights for decision-making, effective management, and future development of the port. This case study underscores Vietnam’s commitment to leveraging advanced technologies to enhance its transportation infrastructure and achieve its national development goals.

摘要
