AI to Empower People with Disabilities Communication and Autonomy
摘要
Individuals with linguistic or cognitive disabilities may have significant challenges in communication, frequently limiting their educational, social, and professional prospects. Artificial intelligence can empower those with impairments by improving communication and promoting increased autonomy. This chapter explores the way AI-driven devices aid those with disabilities via gesture detection, emotion recognition, and text recognition, facilitating enhanced connection. Furthermore, it explores sophisticated augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) systems, such as the Picture Exchange Communication System, recorded voice devices, and electronic tablet speech programs, which offer crucial assistance for non-verbal individuals. The chapter additionally explores AI-driven communication technology tailored for students with impairments, including AI-powered chatbots, communication help tools, facial expression analysis, and interactive robots. Utilizing AI's capabilities, these technologies improve accessibility and inclusion, enabling those with disabilities to participate more successfully in schooling, social interactions, and professional settings, therefore, enhancing their overall quality of life.
