Artificial intelligence can transform assistive technologies for those with disabilities by improving accessibility, communication, and mobility. The amalgamation of AI and assistive technology has resulted in substantial progress, facilitating the creation of innovative solutions customized for various requirements. This chapter offers a comprehensive examination of AI-driven assistive technology, encompassing smart voice and speech recognition systems as well as AI-enhanced communication and learning tools. It examines sophisticated augmentative and alternative communication devices that improve interaction for those with speech disabilities. Moreover, AI-driven computer vision is essential for object recognition, assisting visually challenged individuals in traversing their environment. This chapter analyzes the influence of AI on prosthetic control, exoskeleton assistance, and intelligent wheelchairs, enhancing mobility and autonomy. Assistive technologies are continuously developing, thereby empowering individuals with disabilities and promoting a more inclusive and accessible world, by capitalizing on the capabilities of AI.
