VISION AID—A Light Weight Blind Assistance Tool Using IoT and Computer Vision Techniques
摘要
In a time where technology is a significant part of people’s lives, to manage daily tasks. The biggest issue they encounter is navigation. Blind people use common sticks to locate obstacles, but they can still be deadly in some situation. The “Internet of Things” (IoT) describes a specific type of network that connects different objects via the Internet. The IoT network provides the features to track and monitor devices, send data between them, and do other things. IoT enables items to share data and automate processes without requiring human interaction, making them “smart.” In order to provide functions like identification, obstacle avoidance, and navigation support system that combines IoT devices and sensors with computer vision algorithms. The system will utilize object detection algorithms to identify things in the environment, and provide voice-based reaction to the user, informing them about the objects and their location. The system will also use GPS to send location data to a caretaker or family member, allowing them to monitor the user’s whereabouts in real time. Apart from this, the system will include an alarm button feature, is used to give information to the caretaker when there is an emergency. The caretaker will receive a message with the user’s location, allowing them to offer help quickly. The system will also announce the date, time, and weather conditions to the blind people, and play music for entertainment purposes. The system will use IoT technology to communicate with a cloud-based platform such as ThingSpeak, allowing the user’s data to be stored and accessed remotely. This will allow the caretaker to monitor the user’s activity and respond to emergency situations quickly and efficiently. The overall goal of Blind Person Aid is to enhance the lifecycle of blind persons by giving them more independence and help navigating their environment.
