Urbanity in Flux: The Evolving Essence of Chongqing
摘要
As I started my city walks through Chongqing’s streets, I couldn’t help but notice how the city’s character seemed reflected in the urban landscape. The urbanity of Chongqing is not a monolith like that of many other cities I have been to. It is not limited to one cohesive idea of what a city ought to look like. Rather, it is a multilayered mosaic made of various historical tiers, cultural manifestations, and spatial configurations. This tour of its districts demonstrated how these layers come together to form something distinctively Chongqing: a changing urban fabric that not only embraces its history but also bravely moves forward.
