Digital Transformation Framework for SMEs: Building Organizational Dynamic Capabilities
摘要
Digital transformation (DT) is critical to the empowerment and competitiveness of businesses. This paper discusses DT in small and medium enterprises (SMEs), the prime movers of economic development in countries, from the perspective of factors affecting SMEs’ longevity and sustainability. A scientometric analysis of 391 Scopus-indexed documents related to DT and SMEs was conducted using Biblioshiny. Keywords were established systematically following the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines (PRISMA, n.d.). This analysis framed practices toward DT strategy implementation in SMEs. This study benefits IT researchers, academics, SME decision-makers within the area of DT, and government organizations active in adopting DT to SMEs. From this essence, the study would eventually assist SMEs in becoming more productive and efficient. The bibliometrix tool “Biblioshiny” examined maturity models, frameworks, and Industry 4.0 impact on SMEs. It guides positioning and strategy development with SME cases and the future research scope. Finally, a comprehensive framework has been designed to help SMEs adopt digital transformation while overcoming the challenges.
