Epidemiology of SAS in Children: What Should We Understand About the Current Prevalence of Pediatric Sleep Apnea?
摘要
Pediatric sleep-disordered breathing (SDB) is a significant public health problem that affects the health, growth, and development of children. Key risk factors include obesity, enlarged tonsils and adenoids, allergic rhinitis, and asthma, while the consequences can include neurobehavioral problems, growth delays, and developmental delays. SDB also impacts healthcare utilization and contributes to socioeconomic disparities, with its prevalence ranging from 1% to 5% in children. Public health strategies to address SDB should focus on raising awareness, early detection, and timely intervention. Continued research is essential to improve health outcomes for children affected by SDB.
