Gene Regulatory Systems and Their Dynamics
摘要
A class of proteins called transcription factors has functions to activate or repress transcription of genes. In a cell, each of the many species of transcription factors regulates a number of target genes. At the same time, the amount of a transcription factor itself is regulated by transcription factors. Thus, gene regulations form a dynamical system as a whole. It is believed that various biological functions of the organism arise from the dynamics of gene activity of this system. In this chapter, we will learn the basics of mathematical methods to understand the dynamics of gene regulatory systems.
