The composition of molecular structures and bearing functional groups affect the assembled structures. In this regard, unique molecular structures often give attractive packing patterns and brilliant functions. In this chapter, non-planar three-dimensional (3D)-shaped structural motifs, such as bowls and butterflies, are especially focused on. As bowl-shaped materials, one of the representative buckybowls, sumanenes, are featured, and their structural patterns and unique properties derived from the crystal packing are discussed. In addition, as butterfly-shaped molecules, N-aromatic-substituted indanedione dimers, which selectively build unique structures, including the 1D-channel structure, and the detailed intermolecular interaction within the packing structures, are introduced.

摘要
