Thanks be to God that the seventh year of the second decade ended by warding off the evil eye of treacherous fate with some dreadful events that were the last of their detestable kind, and on Friday the first day of Jumada II 1054 [August 5, 1644], corresponding to the 14th of Amurdad, the eighth year of this decade began with much rejoicing and auspiciousness. On this date Asalat Khan was awarded a royal robe and appointed mir bakhshi, and Khalilullah Khan was given a robe and a 500-zat promotion to the rank of 3000/2000 and made second bakhshi. Mirza Rustam Safavi’s grandson Muradkam was appointed master of the falcons in succession to Khalilullah Khan.
