On Saturday, the first day of Jumada II in the year 1038 [January 26, 1629], corresponding to the 8th of the month of Bahman, the second auspicious year of the emperor’s accession began successfully. The sound of rejoicing filled the world, and cries of happiness reached all far and near. On this date Mu‘taqid Khan, who had brought His Majesty’s aunts and sisters and other members of Jannat-Makani’s harem from Lahore to Akbarabad and then set out for the court, kissed the imperial threshold in Gwalior.
