Global waste production is projected to reach 3.4 billion metric tons by 2050, emphasizing the need for improved waste management. The circular economy (CE) model, which focuses on extending the lifespan of raw materials through recycling and bioconversion technologies, presents a sustainable framework for waste management. In countries such as Indonesia, challenges in adopting CE principles hinder economic diversification and value creation. This chapter focuses on Banyumas Regency, Indonesia, where innovative initiatives and waste management mobile applications like Salinmas and JEKNYONG have successfully implemented the CE model. The chapter describes the practical implementation of waste management in Banyumas and uses network and linear programming analysis to optimize garbage transportation routes. Through a combination of qualitative and quantitative approaches, including desk reviews, key informant interviews, and field surveys, the study provides an in-depth understanding of the unique characteristics of waste management in Banyumas. Furthermore, the chapter emphasizes the sustainability impact of initiatives on economic, social, and environmental aspects, drawing lessons from global leaders in circular economy implementation. Lastly, the chapter provides valuable insights into optimizing circular economy applications for sustainable waste management.

摘要
