Comparative Analysis of Different Nanofillers in Polyvinylidene Fluoride-Hexa-Fluoro Propylene Polymer for Electromagnetic Shielding Applications
摘要
Polyvinylidene fluoride-hexa-fluoropropylene (PVDF-HFP) polymer nanocomposites (PNCs) with various nanofillers, namely iron oxide (Fe2O3), graphene nanoplatelets (GNPs), and nanodiamonds (NDs) @ 10% wt were synthesized using the solution blending technique for electromagnetic interference shielding applications in satellite communication. We employed the X-ray diffraction (XRD) and Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) techniques to evaluate the structural properties and chemical functionalities of the synthesized nanocomposites containing different nanofillers at equal weight percentage loadings. The thermal behaviour of the prepared polymer nanocomposites (NCs) was examined by the thermo gravimetric analyser (TGA). It reveals that the thermal stability of polymer NCs has been enhanced by adding different nanofillers in PVDF-HFP matrix. Using the vector network analyser technique, the electromagnetic interference shielding effectiveness (EMI SE) of GNPs@PVDF-HFP, Fe2O3@PVDF-HFP, and NDs@PVDF-HFP are found to be 27.33 dB, 9.77 dB, and 5.15 dB, respectively. It is observed that among the three distinct synthesized polymer nanocomposites, PVDF-HFP with GNPs exhibits the greatest EMI SE and is found to be the most promising material for potential application in satellite communications.
