The friction stir welding procedure is a solid state joining technique that involves connecting two plates together using an infinite tool. In FSW, the material is welded but does not completely melt and recast. The quality of the welded connection is determined by the lap shear fracture force, which can only be optimized by carefully controlling all relevant process parameters to achieve the maximum strength. In the current work, friction stir welding settings were optimized through the application of Response surface approach. Tool pin profile, Tool rotation speed, and Dwell duration were the variables employed in this experiment. Based on the lap shear fracture force, spot welding response requirements are determined. The influence of several parameters on the strength of the joint was studied.

摘要
