Comparison of Linear Regression, Power Regression and Logarithmic Model Developed Using MATLAB to Determine Relationship Between Compressive Strength and Flexural Strength of Blended Concrete

The association between compressive strength (C) and flexural strength (F) is vital for the investigation of materials, particularly in civil engineering and construction. In general, there is an association between C and F, as both are affected by comparable elements such as the composition, porosity, and structural integrity of the material. However, the association between these two factors can differ depending on the material type and characteristics. Notably, the association between C and F is not always linear. Understanding the association between C and F is crucial for the design and analysis of the structural components. Attaining the relationship among these for blended concrete with hefty data requires extremely tedious and complex work. Hence, MATLAB code was developed to resolve this problem using numerous models, such as linear regression (LR), power regression (PR), and logarithmic (L). The input data in MATLAB were supplied from the research work conducted on blended concrete mixes, and the models were run. The results from these models were then compared based on existing standards, and the R2 value was used to reveal the best fit.
