Material advancements in the field of aviation particularly in gas turbine engine play a critical factor in overall development of an aircraft. The performance of a critical component namely turbine blade in gas turbine engine which works under high pressure and temperature environment undergoes various mechanical failures like fatigue, creep, erosion, oxidation etc. Advanced alloys like Al – Ti (Ti-6Al-4V) and Nickel based alloy (IN – 738) promises certain in range parameters that enhance the turbine blade against mechanical wear and tear. So, a numerical investigation is performed to find out the performance of the materials under working conditions of the actual gas turbine blade. A turbine blade similar to GE F404 has been considered for testing out the material role in thermal management in the blade during operation of the gas turbine engine by performing CFD analysis in ANSYS Fluent. After analysis, by comparing the results of materials Aluminium – Titanium alloy gives better performance than the Nickel based alloy for a solid blade.
