This Yancheng case study demonstrates China’s innovative approach to systemic mini-park planning in high-density urban areas. Facing severe green space shortages, the project employed a demand-driven methodology: dividing the city into 178 units, quantifying recreational demand by age group, and analyzing supply-demand fit using diverse enablers and deterrents. Strategies mainly included converting hard grounds and inserting greenery to add 341 mini-parks. Results show transformative gains: park accessibility coverage surged from 24.3% to 97.7%, while park numbers increased by 380%.
