This chapter discussed key factors influencing pocket park service performance. Unlike conventional parks, pocket parks’ small size heightens sensitivity to: internal elements like centralized playground area, flexible seating, and sightline-friendly greenery; external physical factors including complementary facilities (nearby toilets/cafes), deterrents (trunk roads, proximate large parks), and enablers (building aesthetics, slow-traffic access); and socioeconomic drivers such as user demographics, land value, and community cultural cohesion. Rigid “blueprint” designs often fail to correspond to these factors effectively, calling for tailored guidelines for their planning and design.
